Based on information available from IFPMA (the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations) and a thorough review of national pharma associations’ websites, a set of documentation has been prepared and is accessible via the members’ section of the Association’s website – which may be used by any employees of member companies.
Essentially, the tool contains the following sections:
The information is currently available for more than 40 countries, and copies of “international codes” such as EFPIA and IFPMA are also included.
(In addition, ethical marketing codes of various nonpharma healthcare company associations have also been assembled for later review and comparison purposes – these will not initially be featured in the online regulatory tool.)
Since the regulatory environment sees rapid and almost constant change, the contents of this tool will be subject to regular review and updating by IPCAA, however, the information should not be seen as replacement for appropriate advice and opinion from corporate legal or compliance sources!
Anna Frick, President of IPCAA, announcing the tool to IPCAA Council members, said “I believe this will be a useful tool for members and illustrates our continuing policy of looking for additional value to provide. It is our intention to continue to add to the information contained, for example, with links to legislative references and inter-state variations in the US.”
Note: although the use of the new Regulatory Tool is restricted to IPCAA members only, organisations or individuals who may have questions concerning general regulatory matters concerning medical congress topics should feel free to contact IPCAA for advice on information sources, conceptual issues etc. (secretariat@ipcaa.org)
In addition to the new regulatory tool for members, improvements continue to be made to various sections of the IPCAA website and further enhancements to the overall appearance and functionality are currently under discussion.
