It’s just that industry changes, and the dynamic business environment have brought about certain career developments, resulting in several personnel changes within our task forces. We therefore took the opportunity to undertake a fundamental review of the way task forces run and, importantly, how they interact with each other.
Using former IPCAA President Kurt Nagel’s expertise and experience, supported by Council member Martin Jensen of H. Lundbeck A/S, a project was set up to:
Objectives for each task force are being reprioritised, based on active discussion of current topics for each area. Feasibility, potential impact and relevance will be considered.
Action plans drawn up will adopt similar formats for all task forces, with clear and standardised progress reporting, and detailed comments for actions, timing and responsibility.
With some task forces having undergone a significant change in personnel, senior IPCAA Council members will be available to advise and support discussion and strategy. Equally, the Executive Director will be responsible for crosscoordination among the task forces, so that valuable knowledge and experience and current developments can be accurately recorded and better shared.
IPCAA task forces would welcome new members to support their task force heads and deputies, for without active members, task forces become limited in their scope. All IPCAA member companies are invited to nominate members for any task force of their choosing. Equally, there are already clear examples where non-IPCAA members have also joined task forces set up by the Association, and this can only serve to strengthen activities and represent the broadest possible spectrum of sponsors’ views. Approaches from device companies etc., are welcomed.
“The IPCAA task forces have always been one of the key pillars of our Association’s activity and a direct point of contact with those who hold and organise congresses”, said Keith Spencer, Executive Director, “The current project will undoubtedly put all our task forces in much better shape for the future, and will enable more efficient information sharing”
